Forensic

Forensic Science

Forensic Science is applying scientific knowledge to law. Definition of Forensics: “Forensics is the use of scientific techniques and evidence to solve crimes is used in the legal system.”  Forensic scientists collect and preserve evidence then analyze it to help solve an investigation into the crime their jobs can vary from murder scenes to drug busts all over the country.

We need Forensic Scientists to figure out and investigate to prove who did the crime; they collect, preserve, and genetically identify evidence from the crime scene and see if there is a match. You can find evidence in Fingerprints, Hair, Skin follicles, Blood, Footprints, and more. Genetically identifying fingerprints were discovered by Sir Alec Jeffreys.

Genetic Profiling is figuring out the DNA’s code to see if it matches up with the person. Everyone has a genetic code and each code is different. DNA is short for deoxyribonucleic acid, deoxyribonucleic acid is the instruction to make up nearly every cell in your body. There are four types of DNA, adenine, thymine, guanine, and cytosine these four types make up your DNA. Genes are a segment of DNA.

To be a forensic Scientist you need to be observant / an eye for detail to have an open mind by being observant as a scientist helps Forensic Scientists to identify and find as many clues as possible to figure out the criminal offender to do the best work they possibly can.

Forensics Scientists are really important to have in our society because they know the scientific truth behind the crime. Deoxyribonucleic acid makes the connection between genetically profiling so the truth is pushed further out and their mind as well.

Project

AIM: The aim of this project was to find the area of a floor plan we chose. We had to find out the current and voltage of our light bulbs in our house.

Method: I have two bedrooms and one bathroom. The template chosen is plan C.

The amount of bulbs I have is 10, the bulbs are all throughout my house.

Results: I have 5 pathways for my circuit with an area of 150.3175msquared. The areas of each room

Bed1: 28m^2

Bed2: 12m^2

Bathroom: 12m^2

Entrance: 25m^2

Triangle: 7.5m^2

Semicircle: 9.8175m^2

Kitchen/Living: 36m^2

___________________________________________________

The voltage of pathway one is 200V with one lightbulb. Pathway two, each of my lightbulbs is 66.67V,

pathway three is 50V on each bulb,

pathway 4 200V and the same with the last pathway.

The total current of my house: 28.67

Discussion:

Voltage is the amount of energy given by the “source” or battery.

Current is the rate of flow by electrons.

Resistance is about pushing back, if you change the resistance on your light bulb the more resistance the slower the electrons.

______________________________________________________

- What are fuses? Fuses are electrical devices that interrupt the flow of the current. It blows up when too much current flows through it.

- How are fuses used in a house? Fuses are used to blow up when too much current flows in it, this is because it will prevent a fire.

_______________________________________________________

The way I found the voltage of the light bulbs was by dividing the voltage from the battery by the number of light bulbs I have on each pathway/lane of the circuit. The calculations make sense because 200/4 is 50 so the amount of V in each bulb on line three is 50.

I enjoyed doing this project because I like mathematics and physics. Learning about VIR is very interesting because I have not really heard much about this. I would not do anything differently because I am happy with the outcome of this project. Choosing a floor plan and calculating the area was the easiest part of it all as I have done that before. I didn’t know anything about VIR before learning about it so it was slightly difficult until you learn the formulae of each perspective.

Grammar worksheet

WORKSHEET 1 ~ Grammar

All these sentences were written by people from social media, we now have to correct these sentences to have proper grammar and vocabulary. The way we write on social media is very different to the way we write in "English classes."

Quotation marks ~ Punctuation

Quotation marks are used to mark the start and ending of a title or quoted passage. Quotation marks signal that the words between the marks are the actual words said by the speaker.

Examples of quotation mark writing:

1.  "Hello, how are you?" they said.

2. My favourite quote from a song is, "Happy Birthday to you."

3. "Have you finished your homework?" said the teacher.

4. "Do not take her laptop!" she screamed.

5.  "Time is money," said Benjamin Franklin.

How resistance affects current?

Resistance slows down the current, current is how quickly the electrons move.

Voltage means: how much energy electrons are carrying.

Electrons carry the energy around. If your electrons are not moving there is no energy.

PARTS OF CIRCUIT:

  • Wire : it transfers the electrons. The wire connects the components on a circuit so they can pass on electricity.

  •  Battery: it produces the electricity/energy source.

  • Switch: a switch turns on and off.

  • Fuse: if there is too much energy going through a circuit the fuse breaks. A fuse stops the flow of electrons if it is going too fast.

  • Resister: slows down the flow of electrons.

A series circuit is one path (all of the components are in a single loop) and a parallel circuit has many paths.

- In a parallel circuit the current is split and the opposite with series circuit.

Resistance is about pushing back. A higher resistance the current is slower . A lower resistance the current is faster.

Current (I) is measured in AMPS

Voltage (V) is measured in volts

Resistence (R) is measured in ohms.

So when we add resistance into a circuit the current slows down eg. if we have a light bulb and we make the resistance lower the light bulb will be brighter because the current is faster so less resistance makes current go faster.
