Volleyball

For the past two weeks we have been doing volleyball training. From the start to finish of doing volleyball I have made a difference in my skills of playing volleyball.

What were my skills like before we started the unit?

- When we started volleyball I had not really any idea how to play volleyball and my aiming when I hit the ball was off.

What are my skills like now?

-  Now I have learnt how to serve the ball and when I hit the volleyball my aiming is way better now. I can hit the volleyball in a proper position with my arms.

What specific skills can you now use in a game?

- I can use the proper way to hit the volleyball and serve the volleyball.

What is the hardest thing about playing volleyball?

- I think the hardest thing about playing volleyball is serving because I have had not as much practice with serving yet.

The thing I liked most about volleyball?

- I liked the way we had time to learn the skills before we did a game and not just rushing into things. I liked playing volleyball with all of my friends.

What would I like to do next year?

- If I was doing PE next year I would like to play proper games with another team that actually tries and not just stares at the ball. I would like to work more on the skills of volleyball as well.

Calypso

Calypso. Calypso is a style of Afro- Caribbean music dated back to the mid 19th century. This song sounds like it could be used at a beach party. If Timothy's voice from The Cay is described as having a soft Calypso voice , Timothy's voice sounds uplifting and cheerful. His voice sounds like a party at the beach. The instruments used in this music sounds like drums.

Types of Energy

We are learning about all the different types of energy. There are 8 different types of energy. Energy transformation is when a energy is transferred from one type of energy to another type of energy. Energy cannot be created or destroyed we just transform it one one type of energy to another.

Light energy: From x-rays to visible lights. (when you could get an x-ray and the light energy shows the bones)

Heat energy: Heat energy is produced by the movement of particles quickly. (the sun is a form of heat energy)

Sound energy: Vibrating particles cause sound. (bell sound from a microwave)

Kinetic energy: Allows an object to move. ( driving a car )

Electrical: Found in anything that uses electricity. ( batteries )

Gravitational: Found in objects high off the ground. (dropping your phone)

Chemical Potential Energy: Found in chemicals. (food)

Elastic energy: found in stretched things. (a rubber band being flicked across the room)

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

This is an example of what would happen if you put a balloon on the end of a cup with its bottom cut off what would happen to the marsh mellow and what types of energy is happening with the marsh mellow.

Pontoon Bridge

Used from 1000BC to ancient china and still used till this day. Pontoon bridges. They were used on December 11th 1982 Union engineers tried to cross river. Pontoon Bridges are quickly built and Union army was able to move into the town.

Why were the bridges created?

-  They were used to cross rivers. They can be put together and taken away quickly quickly. They were used to cross rivers in the south when there was war and other wars and just in general.

How are they built?

- Connected with planks and rope with chess with small boats lying under boards .

How are they reusable?

- They are reusable because they can be taken down and put together quickly.

DO NOW

Schooner. A schooner is a type of sailing boat/vessel. The schooner name means to skip over water or to skip stones. The Schooner is a very slim built long boat with a long point at the start of the boat. This particular boat is quite close to the water when sailing it also has four masts that are very tall. If you were sailing on this boat you wouldn't be able to much as you would see from standing on a taller boat.

The size of this boat is 131 feet it could be less. The boat is in a curved diamond shape with triangle sails.

U-Boat

A U-Boat is a German submarine used during WW1 and WW2. The German submarine was 214 feet long. Many of the U-boats were sunk by the British leaving only 4 of the U-boats left today.  During the world wars Germans used the tactic "The Wolfpack"

I chose this video because it explains how the u-boat works with some interesting things to know about the boat. This certain video explains the tactic and the inside of the u-boat as well.
